A 55-year-old man was killed early Sunday in what police described as a case of domestic violence.

The victim was identified as Francis Xavier Stewart.

Police received a call for service at 1215 a.m. When officers arrived at a location in the 4700 block of Cinderella Road in north Charlotte they found Stewart had been stabbed. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police did not release details of the killing or the name of the person who stabbed Stewart.

Child trauma specialists were called to the scene.
