Police today arrested a 41-year-old man suspected of abducting and assaulting a child under 12.

Police said Jerry White was arrested without incident by officers of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Family Services Division.

A warrant for his arrest was signed on suspicion that White abducted the child Sunday from Frazier Park near the Gateway Village in uptown Charlotte.

Police said detectives worked day and night to identify a suspect after reviewing surveillance video and photos and interviewing witnesses.

CMPD has scheduled a 4 p.m. press conference to discuss the case.
