Police have arrested a 27-year-old man and charged him with murder after a man he allegedly assaulted died from injuries sustained during the altercation.

According to police, Jason Lamont Hill assaulted 57-year-old Clayton Alexander on July 30 over a previous dispute. Two days later, Alexander was found dead in his home in the 1000 block of Allen Street in northeast Charlotte.

Friends of the victim told police that Alexander had complained of abdominal pain following the assault. Police said the assault caused “serious injuries that resulted in Mr. Alexander’s death.”

Hill was arrested Monday without incident.
