Man dies in N. Charlotte shooting
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrived on the scene of a north Charlotte shooting Saturday and found the victim a short distance away.
Police said they received a call for service around 4:17 a.m. in the 1300 block of LaSalle Street. When they arrived on scene, police said they could not locate a victim.
A short time later, medics were flagged down on Statesville Avenue near Interstate-85. It was later determined, police said, that witnesses drove a man suffering from a gunshot wound away from the scene of the shooting.
Medics transported the victim to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the witnesses are cooperating with the investigation. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for more witnesses.
