Good Morning! It’s Monday and time to get back to work.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Today, the weatherman is calling for it to be partly to mostly cloudy and warm with a high of 82°.

Here is what’s brewing in the news this morning:

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon welcome babies

Singer Mariah Carey gave birth to twins on Saturday. People.com reports that she and her husband Nick Cannon first welcomed a baby girl, weighing 5 lbs 3 oz., and then a son, weighing 5 lbs 6 oz. The day was also the couple’s wedding anniversary.

Shortly after the birth of the twins, Cannon took to Twitter. He said, "My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!," and "I won't ever be able to top this!"

People.com reports that Cannon drove his wife to the hospital in a Rolls Royce Phantom and was so nervous he went to the wrong department. He is quoted saying, “It was like an episode of I Love Lucy.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Woman faces 20 years for sending son to wrong school

Speaking of moms in the news, a homeless mother in Connecticut is facing time in prison for sending her son to a school in the wrong district.

Tanya McDowell, 33, is being charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny for allegedly stealing $15,686 from Norwalk schools. Prosecutors allege that figure is the value of her 5-year-old son's education at a school where officials say he was illegally enrolled in from January until McDowell's arrest on April 14.

McDowell, who is black, has drawn the support of civil rights leaders and parents' groups. She is being represented by a lawyer provided by the Connecticut chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. She has pleaded not guilty and faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines if convicted of the felony larceny charge.

Fox News reported that although his office has received more than 100 emails from across the country in support of McDowell, Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia stands behind the arrest. He is quoted as saying "This is not a poor, picked-upon homeless person… This is an ex con, and somehow the city of Norwalk is made into the ogre in this. She has a checkered past at best."
