Mayor Anthony Foxx has appointed Bishop Claude Alexander, senior pastor of The Park Church, to co-chair the city’s push for voters to approve a $203.6 million bond package in November.

Also on the “Vote Yes for City Bonds” campaign are: Howard Bissell III, senior vice president and director of The Bissell Companies; and Cyndee Patterson, president of The Lee Institute and chair of the Mayor’s Efficient & Effective Government Task Force.

“Each of these individuals is no stranger to important civic causes and has the ability to pull our community together to support city bonds this fall,” Foxx said in a statement Monday. “I appreciate their leadership as well as the team at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.”

On November 2, voters will get to vote yes or no a package of bonds that are part of the City Council’s adopted Capital Investment Plan.

The plan includes: Transportation bonds ($156.6 million) to fund street upgrades, intersection enhancements, new bikeways and sidewalk improvements. Neighborhood improvement bonds ($32 million) for sidewalks and storm drainage in older neighborhoods. Affordable housing bonds ($15 million) to provide housing for low-and moderate-income families.
