Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say two additional women have accused former officer Marcus Jackson of sexual abuse during a traffic stop, bring to five the total number police have disclosed.

According to CMPD, on Dec. 28 at approximately 11 p.m., Jackson, 25, stopped a vehicle for speeding on Matheson Avenue. Two women were inside. During the stop, the women allege, Jackson asked them to step out of the car and for consent to search them. The women allege that they did give Jackson consent and that during the search he improperly touched them.

CMPD is recommending that the district attorney’s office file charges against Jackson in the case.

In addition to this case, CMPD is investigating other allegations against Jackson, who was fired and remains in jail on earlier charges of sexual assault.

“As we continue to thoroughly investigate all allegations related to Jackson’s case, we are also looking into past traffic stops and calls for service conducted by Jackson to see if there is other related information to investigate,” the department said in a statement Sunday. “As we receive and confirm additional information in this case, we will continue to provide ongoing case updates.”

CMPD is working with the FBI to determine if any federal charges apply.

At least two other women stopped by Jackson allege that they were put into his patrol car, taken to another location and forced to perform sex acts.

In 2005, before Jackson joined the police force, a judge issued a restraining order against him after a women filed a complaint. CMPD is reviewing its hiring policies to determine how background checks missed the incident.

Also, the Charlotte Observer reported this week, based on information obtained from a police source, that Jackson was twice recommended for suspensions over incidents that occurred before the alleged attacks on the women. One incident involved allegations that Jackson was speeding, the newspaper reported the source as saying, and the other involved allegations that he broke into his estranged wife's apartment.

CMPD is asking anyone who may have had improper contact with Jackson to call detective Mike Melendez at 704-353-0560.
