Steven Aycock, Johnson C. Smith University’s head football coach, was selected along with his staff to coach the North team in the 2012 FCS Senior Scout Bowl presented by the Collegiate Development Football League. The game was played Saturday, December 15 inside the Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC. The game included players representing 124 FCS Division football programs. Aycock and his staff led JCSU to a record of 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the CIAA this season. The Golden Bulls achieved their second winning season for the first time since 1972-73. The team also concluded the season on a four-game winning streak, its longest since 1996.

Reginald Johnson has been appointed chair of the Charlotte Area Fund Board of Directors. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Livingstone College and a master’s degree in leadership from Pfeiffer University. He is currently employed at Wells Fargo as a business systems consultant. The Charlotte Area Fund (CAF) is a private, non-profit corporation and Mecklenburg County’s designated community action agency. It’s mission is to combat poverty by assisting low-income individuals and families with becoming self-sufficient.
Sharrah Gibson and Tijuana Smith have joined the respiratory therapist team at Griffin

Home Health Care Inc. Gibson previously spent four years in the medical profession as a biomedical lab technician, clinical assistant and as a certified respiratory therapist. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Smith worked as a respiratory therapist at Carolinas Medical Center, Carolinas Rehabilitation, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Lincare Inc. She graduated from Pitt Community College in Greenville, N.C.

Ryan Marsh, a sales manager at HF Financial, has been named chair of the Charlotte Chamber East Chapter Board of Directors. “I am looking forward to helping further the mission of the Charlotte Chamber and promote business development in the East Charlotte region,” Marsh said in a prepared statement. The mission of the Charlotte Chamber East Chapter is to promote business development in the Charlotte East region by promoting education, information and leadership growth and image enhancement. The Charlotte Chamber East Chapter also strives to serve as an information source to the members about the development and policy issues facing the East area of Charlotte. The geographical regional boundaries for Charlotte Chamber East include Independence Blvd., Monroe Rd., Albermarle Rd. and Sharon Amity Rd.
