A double stabbing that occurred overnight in an apartment complex off Albemarle Road in east Charlotte left one man dead.

Police officers were investigating an unrelated incident in the Camden Forest Apartment complex when they say they heard a female screaming in a nearby apartment.

Officers kicked in the door to the apartment, and say they found Ricky Lee Self suffering from multiple stab wounds. According to police, there was also a female with cuts on her body as well.

Self, 35, was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:26 a.m. The female was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Police say this does not appear to be a random act of violence, and detectives are not seeking any suspects.
