Overnight checkpoint nets 51 charges
An overnight checkpoint by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police netted 51 charges, ranging from DWI to seatbelt violations.
Officers from the Eastway Division began stopping cars on The Plaza in east Charlotte at 11 p.m. Thursday. The checkpoint ended at 3 a.m. Friday. Officers from neighboring jurisdictions also took part.
CMPD announced the following results:
DWI – 12
Driving with license revoked - 4
No Operator's License - 11
Open Container - 3
Possession of alcohol under age - 2
Drug Charges - 1
Other Citations - (tags, insurance, etc..)- 17
Seatbelt violation – 1
Warrant - 1 (larceny charge)
Total Charges - 51
All arrests involved DWI and one warrant.
