A woman was stabbed to death overnight after she went to a home in northwest Charlotte to retrieve some personal belongings.

Police have not released the victim’s name pending notification of relatives.

It was the city's second homicide in 24 hours.

The incident occurred at a home in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, just north of the Brookshire Freeway, some time before 12:43 a.m.

The victim, a black female, was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another female at the home. She was taken by car to Presbyterian Hospital and pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene, police said.
