Authorities this morning are reporting scattered power outages and street closures after an overnight storm blew through the Charlotte area.

The 17th annual Speed Street festival was shut down early last night because of high winds – the second straight year that inclement weather has sent festival-goers scrambling. The uptown celebration of NASCAR continues today and ends Saturday.

As of 4:30 a.m., police announced the following road closures:

  • All lanes of Wilkinson Boulevard between Little Rock Road and I-485 because of several downed utility polls.
  • Allenbrook Drive in front of the elementary school. Power lines down in the roadway.
  • The 14000 block of Ramah Church Road was closed because of a tree blocking the roadway.

Most commuters this morning should have no issues.

We hope your neighborhood was unaffected.
