Police: A robber is shot by his intended victim
A would-be robber was shot in the neck Thursday night by his intended victim, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. in the common area of an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte.
Police were called to the scene by reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a man, later identified as the suspect, staggering through the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man was taken into custody, treated at the scene, then transported to Carolinas Medical Center. Police described the suspect as “alert and combative” and said his injuries were not thought to be life threatening. His name was not immediately released.
Police said two firearms were recovered.
Police said the shooter, whose name was not released, remained on scene and also called 911 to report the incident. He was said to be cooperating with the investigation.
