An apparent argument between two roommates in their east Charlotte apartment ended Thursday night with the shooting death of one of the men, police reported.

The shooting occurred in the 6400 block of The Plaza just after 8 p.m., according to police report. CMPD did not immediately release the name of the victim or the suspected shooter.

When officers arrived at the apartment unit they found a male lying on the floor, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics on the scene pronounced him dead.

Based on preliminary witness statements, the victim and the suspect (who shared the apartment with two other roommates) got into a verbal argument that escalated. At some point, the suspect shot the victim and fled.

Police early Friday were still seeking the suspect.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
