Police arrest fifth suspect in Kidd murder
A fifth suspect in the May 2 shooting death of 17-year-old Deandre Demarcus Kidd turned himself in to police on Friday.
Titus Isaiah Campbell, 19, was booked into the Mecklenburg jail facing charges of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.
Kidd, a West Charlotte High School senior who was weeks from graduation and had been planning to attend the senior prom in two weeks, was shot to death inside a car about 4 a.m. after he and three other people stopped at a west Charlotte fast-food restaurant for an early-morning snack.
Police have not said what might have led to the shooting, and whether the victim knew those who fired shots at the car he was in.
Four other suspects were already in police custody.
