Police arrested Demone Evans, 25, and charged him with the double killing of two people inside a car in west Charlotte more than two months ago.

Dominique McGriff, 21, and his girlfriend Tia Mitchell, 23, were shot to death May 16 off West Boulevard near Clanton Road.

Evans was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of murder. Police released no information on a possible motive.

Police said Evans has been arrested seven times in Mecklenburg County since 2006. In addition to misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession, he was arrested in July 2009 and charged with assault with a deadly weapon – a gun.
