Teen charged in rape of 83 year old
Police arrested 16-year-old Robert Lamar McFadden Thursday and charged him with
raping an 83-year-old woman in her north Charlotte home.
The woman told police her assailant forced her inside her house around 10 p.m. Wednesday and sexually assaulted her. She was treated at a local hospital and released.
Police on Thursday arrested McFadden after officers responded to a second break-in just around the corner from the rape victim's home. He was taken into custody after a foot chase aided by a K-9 unit and police helicopter.
Police said detectives “developed probable cause” to charge McFadden with rape and kidnapping but did not elaborate on the nature of that evidence.
McFadden is charged with:
- 1 count of 2nd Degree Rape,
- 1 count of 2nd Degree Kidnapping,
- 2 counts of Felonious B/E,
- 1 count of B/E Auto, and
- Violating terms of an earlier release from jail.
The sheriff’s website indicates that McFadden had been arrested twice previously in Mecklenburg County – once in August 2009, charged with larceny from a motor vehicle; and again in March 2010, charged with assault and false imprisonment.
He was booked Thursday in the Mecklenburg jail.
