Four charged with murder
Police have charged and arrested four men in connection with the November 18 killing of
Derek Dominick Roman, 26, who was found shot inside an apartment in the Steel Creek area of southwest Charlotte.
Arrested in the case were: Willie Junior Lenon, 22; Zachary Tyler Rogers, 19; Shea Michael Cook, 27; and Jonathan Maurice Smith, 25.
All were charged with murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Police were called to a unit in the Colonial Grand at Ayrsley apartment complex on Lenox Pointe Drive on the evening of Nov. 26 after a neighbor noticed that a third-floor apartment door was open. The neighbor went inside and found Roman unresponsive.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police allege that the four men arrested were involved in a drug deal with Roman and planned to rob him instead of purchasing the drugs. When Roman resisted, police said, he was shot by the suspects.
