Homicide detectives are investigating a Saturday night shooting outside an east Charlotte nightclub that left one person dead.

The victim was identified Sunday as Luis Manuel Rodriguez Contreras, 21.

Police said the incident took place just before 1 a.m. in the parking lot of La Zima Bar Mexicano in the 100 block of Eastway Drive.

Based on initial witness statements, club security escorted the victim and several other patrons outside the club after they were involved in an altercation. Once outside, at least one shot was fired.

When officers arrived, they found the victim lying unconscious in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead.

Police said the suspects, described as Hispanic males, may have left the scene in a white or pearl-colored Cadillac sedan, possibly a Cadillac Seville, 1998 model with tinted windows.
