Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Keyo Shamanne Hickson, 33, and charged him with the Friday night killing of Khalif Omar Cousar.

Case Update: Saturday, Dec. 19, 10:40 a.m.
The victim of Friday night's homicide on Reddman Road was identified as 31-year-old Khalif Omar. Police say robbery was the apparent motive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide in the 5800 block of Reddman Road in east Charlotte.

At 11:32 p.m. Friday, officers from the Hickory Grove division received a call alleging an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was located in the 6300 block of Albemarle Road after being driven from the scene by a witness. Officers called Medic and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not immediately release the victim’s name.

The preliminary investigation indicates that this is not a random act, according to CMPD.
