Police investigate weekend homicide
Case Update: Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, 12:23 p.m.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police early Sunday were investigating an apparent homicide in the 1700 block of Chasewood Drive.
The circumstances surrounding the death were not immediately known. Officers were called to the scene shortly after 2:20 a.m. to investigate a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Once there, they found a victim inside what appeared to be a vacant apartment. The person apparently had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit were investigating. K9 was called to the scene, but were unable to track a suspect.
This was the city’s second homicide of 2010.
