Police make arrest in '09 killing
Almost a year after Manuel Mosqueda-Savedra was shot and killed in front of four of his children, police on Wednesday announced an arrest in the case.
Kevin Lee McClain, 27, was charged with murder and burglary after he was picked up by
CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
He is accused of killing Mosqueda-Savedra on Sept. 11 inside the victim’s west Charlotte home.
Witnesses told police that three masked men burst into the house around 11:30 p.m. and yelled “Police!” Mosqueda-Savedra was shot when he ran from his bedroom to see what was happening.
Police on Wednesday did not release information about the remaining suspects. Investigators said robbery might have been a motive behind the break-in.
McClain was on probation for marijuana-related charges at the time of the killing. Police records show at least four previous arrests.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call (704) 432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Detective or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
