Police arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run that happened Saturday night in east Charlotte.

Mache Ulysses Darby, 26, was charged Monday with felony hit and run, driving with a revoked license and possession of marijuana.

The victim was identified Monday as 55-year-old Robert Gunter Hall.

Police said Hall was struck by a dark-colored car just before 10:30 p.m. while trying to cross in the 6800 block of Albemarle Road. He died the next day at Carolinas Medical Center. Police said the driver who struck Hall kept going.

When Darby was arrested, investigators seized a black 2006 Cadillac DTS as evidence. Police said Darby was identified through the help of a Crime Stoppers call.

Records show that Darby had been arrested at least three times previously in Mecklenburg County since 2008. The charges included possession of a firearm, reckless driving, fleeing police, driving with a revoked license and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
