Police make arrest in overnight killing
Police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in connection
with an overnight homicide in northwest Charlotte.
Traci Annette Bell was charged with murder in connection with the killing of 26-year-old Andrew Alan Nichols.
Police said the shooting was a “domestic related incident” but did not list a possible motive.
Nichols died of a gunshot wound at a home in the 7200 block of Mount Holly Road, according to a police report. Police said children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Nichols’ death was the city’s third homicide in just over 24 hours. Early Monday, two men were found shot to death inside a wrecked car on N. Tryon Street. A third man inside the car also was was shot, but police said his injuries were not life threatening. As of Tuesday morning, police had not announced an arrest in the case.
