Police make arrest in Tuesday night shooting death
Police today identified the victim of Tuesday night’s homicide as 34-year old Demetrius Paul Gonzalez.
The also announced two arrests in the case.
Darrin Maurice Miller, 38, the alleged shooter, was charged with murder. Police also arrested 18-year-old Iesha Chelle Murphy, charging her with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
As of Wednesday afternoon, both suspects were in the Mecklenburg jail.
Gonzalez was shot and killed on a second-floor walkway at the Lamplighter Inn on Eddleman Road in west Charlotte. Police said they believe Gonzalez and Miller may have had a prior relationship. Witnesses told police the saw the men arguing before the shooting occurred.
The shooting was reported around 12:03 a.m. Wednesday.
