Charlotte- Mecklenburg police are investigating the overnight death of a 30-year-old woman in northwest Charlotte.

Police say they were called to a home in the 3200 block of Braden Court shortly before 12:30 a.m. after paramedics reported that a woman at the address was not breathing.

When officers arrived, the found Monica Murphy unconscious. The Charlotte Fire Department began CPR and paramedics took Murphy to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

Police questioned and later arrested 31-year-old Anthony Daniels in connection with Murphy’s death. Police said Daniels, who is a cousin to Murphy and was living with her, confessed to the crime.

Police did not immediately release the cause of death but said the crime involved a “verbal and physical dispute.”

Daniels was charged with murder and booked into county jail.
