Charlotte records 3rd homicide in 25 hours
Police are investigating a homicide that occurred overnight in the 7200 block of Mount Holly Road in northwest Charlotte.
The victim's identity was being withheld pending family notification.
According to a police report, the incident was called in Tuesday at 3:47 a.m. When officer arrived, the found a male suffering from a gunshot wound outside the residence. Paramedics announced him dead at the scene.
Police said children inside the home would be referred to possible counseling through the Child Development-Community Policing program. Authorities did not say how many children were in the home or list their ages.
Police did not release the name of a suspect but said they believe the shooter and victim knew one another.
Tuesday's killing was Charlotte’s third homicide in just over 24 hours. Early Monday, two men were found shot to death inside a wrecked car on N. Tryon Street. A third man inside the car also was was shot, but police said his injuries were not life threatening. As of Tuesday morning, police had not announced an arrest in the case.
