Police: Ongoing dispute led to stabbing death
An ongoing dispute between two women who had children by the same man led to Wednesday night’s stabbing death in northeast Charlotte, police said Thursday
Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Laqueda Antoinette Hall.
Arrested in the case was 16-year-old Tyesha Imani Roberts, who was charged with first-degree murder and was being held Thursday evening in the Mecklenburg County jail.
Hall was pronounced dead at Presbyterian after being stabbed multiple times at a home in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, just north of the Brookshire freeway. Police said the stabbing was reported at about 12:43 a.m.
Police said Hall and Roberts had argued earlier Wednesday regarding the amount of time the father was spending with each of their children. Hall left the residence after the initial altercation but returned later.
Witnesses told police the two began another verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation, during which Hall was stabbed.
Roberts fled the scene before police arrived, and Hall was driven to Presbyterian by a friend, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Police said investigators were interviewing Roberts’ relatives concerning her whereabouts when she showed up at the home and turned herself in.
