Police: Robbery suspect fires at officer
A robbery suspect reportedly fired at a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police sergeant during a foot chase in northwest Charlotte Friday night.
According to CMPD, officers from the Freedom Division responded to a call for service after two masked gunmen entered a store in the 200 block of Bradford Drive and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspects fled in a white van displaying a 30-day tag.
Officers were circulating in the area when an on-duty patrol sergeant got behind the suspect vehicle. The Sergeant followed the van while calling for backup. The vehicle drove to Allenbrook Elementary School and came to a stop. Four suspects jumped from the van and ran, police said
During a foot case, according to CMPD, one of the suspects turned and fired at the sergeant, who did not return fire and was not injured.
Two of the suspects are described as black males, one in his late teens, thin build, wearing dark brown clothing. The other is described as wearing all black clothing.
Officers set up a perimeter following the chase, and K9 unites were called to track the suspects. No arrests were reported.
