Police seek hit-and-run driver who struck 3-year-old boy
Police today are looking for the driver of a white Cadillac who left the scene after his car struck a 3-year-old boy in east Charlotte Thursday night.
The child was treated for serious injuries at Carolina Medical Center-Main and was listed in critical condition. His name was not immediately released.
The accident happened at 9:32 p.m. in the 6800 block of Monroe Road.
According to a police report, the child and his mother has just gotten off a CATS bus and were attempting to cross Monroe Road when the boy broke away and ran across the inbound lanes. The Cadillac, which was traveling toward uptown, struck the child in the left inbound lane.
The driver stopped and got out of the car along with two female passengers. But as the mother and several witnesses were assisting the child, the driver and his passengers got back into the car and left the scene.
The Cadillac was described as pearl white with four doors, last seen traveling inbound on Monroe Road.
The driver was described as a black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, 185 pounds with short hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jean shorts. The passengers were both black females.
