Tomonta Q. Simmons

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are looking for a 19-year-old man suspected of cutting off his electronic monitoring device.

Tomonta Quantez Simmons was last seen in the area of Interstate 277. Police said he cut off his electronic monitor on Thursday.

Simmons was released from jail on December 18, 2010 and placed on probation with the N.C. Department of Community Corrections and was being monitored by CMPD. He has previously been arrested for felony drug and weapon charges in Mecklenburg County.

CMPD and the N.C. Department of Community Corrections are involved in a pilot program to monitor priority offenders on probation. Simmons is the second offender to cut off a CMPD electronic monitor as part of this pilot program, which is in its second year.

Anyone with information on Simmons whereabouts should immediately contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) at (704)336-VCAT or call 911.
