Police seek suspect in fatal stabbing
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police early Tuesday were searching for a 26-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a victim in northwest Charlotte Monday night.
The suspect, Adrian Alcala, is described as an Hispanic male. Police said he was last
seen fleeing the scene of the stabbing in the 5100 block of Swearngan Road some time around 8:30 p.m.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
According to a police report, officers were called to a home on Swearngan Road by a resident who said a bleeding man was knocking on his door. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the porch, suffering from what later were determined to be stab wounds.
The victim initially had a faint pulse but died a short time later at the scene, despite efforts by paramedics.
Based on initial witness statements, police said, the victim was sitting inside a dark-colored vehicle with at least one other person when a fight began inside the car. The victim ran from the car after being stabbed, police said. The suspect vehicle fled through the neighborhood toward Beatties Ford Road.
Homicide Detectives hours later signed a murder warrant for Alcala’s arrest. As of Tuesday morning, the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) was still looking for Alcala.
Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police said Alcala may be traveling in a 2001 Silver Chrysler Town Country Van (N.C. license plate YPC-8167).
Anyone with information about Mr. Alcala's whereabout is asked to call 704.336.VCAT.
