Police: Victim kills one of two men during home invasion
One of two suspect robbers was shot to death Friday inside a home in northeast Charlotte.
The dead man was not immediately identified.
Police said the shooting occurred at about 9:36 a.m. inside a home in the 2400 block of Finchley Drive in the North Tryon Division.
When officers arrived at the location, they found an unresponsive male inside; he was pronounced dead.
Based on initial witness statements, here is how police say the shooting occurred:
A male was sitting outside the house in a vehicle when he was approached by two armed black males. The suspects forced the male inside the residence at gunpoint and began assaulting him.
When a female resident heard the commotion, she fired at the suspects, killing one of them. The second suspect fled.
Police last Friday morning were still searching for the second suspect.
The male who was assaulted was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries described as non-life threatening. The female victim was uninjured.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
