A 22-year-old woman is dead and her boyfriend critically wounded in a shooting described by police as an attempted murder and suicide.

Police said a woman called 911 around 5 p.m. and said she had just shot her boyfriend then hung up. When officers arrived at the Park Creek Apartments near Milton Road in northeast Charlotte., they found Edris Gbarlee Juyenneh Dickson dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A man inside the unit was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds.

The male victim was not immediately identified,

Police offered no motive for the shooting.

“At this time, there is no reason to believe that there is anyone else involved in this shooting,” said Public Affairs officer Robert P. Fey of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. “This incident was not a random act of violence.”
