Good morning! It’s Monday. How was your weekend? As we get back to business, the weatherman says today will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 90’s. It’s amazing that somehow 90-degree weather seems to constitute a cool day.

Can you believe it’s already August? It seems like the summer just began, and now many children are less than one month away from going back to school. Lil’ Wayne and Martin Lawrence will also be performing in the Qcity this month. Who’s going?

Here’s what’s brewing in the news this morning:

Can a woman raise a boy into man?

According to a recent survey, most men don’t think so. This is alarming, considering that statistics show 70 percent of black children are being raised in single-parent homes, usually headed by women.

A poll conducted by YourBlackWorld.com asked, “Can a woman raise a boy to be a man (whatever your definition of manhood may be) without male intervention?” Two out three males said no. Ten percent were unsure. Nearly half of the women (49.6%), believed that a woman could do the job.

QUESTION: What is your definition of manhood, and do you think a woman can raise a boy into a man? What’s the best advice you would give to single mothers who are raising sons?
