Qcity nightclub owner shot dead
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that left the owner of a local nightclub dead.
Authorities on Friday identified the victim as Roosevelt Hinton, 68, who opearated the Get-A-Way Lounge in the 9300 block of Wilkinson Boulevard.
The shooting was reported to police just before 2 p.m. by a beer distributor who had gone to the nightclub as part of his daily rounds. When he arrived, according to police, he saw a black male leave the club and get into a black coupe heading west on Wilkinson Boulevard towards Gaston County.
When the driver entered the lounge he called out to the owner but got no answer. After a brief search he found the victim unconscious.
Police said no motive was immediately apparent. Law enforcement agencies were searching for the suspect vehicle within a 50-mile radius of the nightclub.
