Radio personality Derrick Jacobs ("Fly Ty") is returning to the Qcity.

Beginning March 8, Jacobs will host afternoons on My92.7 (WQNC) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., station owner Radio One announced Monday.

A veteran to radio, he got his start in the early 1990 in Charlotte as co-host/producer of the “Breakfast Brotha’s Morning Show” on WPEG. After 10 years in Charlotte radio, he moved to Dallas, Texas, working at KRNB 105.7 and most recently was co-host/producer of The Playground Morning Show on K104.

“It is a dream of most on-air personalities to be able to be on the air in their own hometown,” WQNC Program Director Terri Thomas said in a statement. “It was our dream to find an afternoon personality that could be all things Charlotte.”
