Rev. Wright: 'Obama threw me under the bus'
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, President Obama’s former preacher, says he is "toxic" to the Obama administration and that Obama "threw me under the bus."
In a copy of a letter obtained by the Associated Press, dated Feb. 18, 2010, Wright corresponds with the head of a group called Africa 6000 International. The group had requested Wright’s assistance in lobbying the White House to help release frozen overseas funds for use in earthquake-ravaged Haiti, according to the AP.
Responding to the request, Wright said any appeal he made to Obama would likely be ignored.
"No one in the Obama administration will respond to me, listen to me, talk to me or read anything that I write to them. I am 'toxic' in terms of the Obama administration," the letter states.
"I am 'radioactive,' Sir. When Obama threw me under the bus, he threw me under the bus literally!" Wright wrote. "Any advice that I offer is going to be taken as something to be avoided. Please understand that!"
Neither the White House nor Wright had responded on Monday to an AP request for comment.
