Qcity robbery suspect arrested in Kansas
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police flew to Kansas Thursday to arrest a man suspected of robbing an 84-year-old man who was acting as a Good Samaritan.
The elderly victim was robbed at gunpoint August 13 by a white male who knocked on
the victim’s door claiming that he needed help with an overheated vehicle.
While the victim was assisting, the suspect pulled a handgun and demanded money. When the victim removed his wallet to look for cash, the suspect grabbed it from the victim’s hand and drove off.
Although the victim was not hurt, he fell to the ground when the suspect grabbed his wallet.
The victim described the suspect as a white male, about 5-feet, 7-inches tall, around 25 years old with dark hair and a medium build.
The victim later reported to police that his credit card, which was stolen during the robbery, was used at a Walmart in Indian Trail. Police used surveillance photos from the store to charge Andrey Gurlov, 28, with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
During their search for Gurlov (photo), police learned that he had gone to Kansas City.
He was arrested Thursday and will be extradited to Charlotte.
Police said they now suspect Gurlov in a second robbery and are investigating others to determine whether he may be a suspect in any of them.
Gurlov had been arrested four times previously in Mecklenburg County.
