SC State alum gives $90,000
An anonymous graduate of SC State University recently donated $90,000 to the Orangeburg, S.C., school.
University officials said the money will be placed in the University Foundation, and interest earned will be uses to support student scholarships.
This marks the second time in six months that an anonymous graduate has made a large donation to the school. The first gift, for $250,000, was an unrestricted contribution given in August.
Alumni giving increased 23 percent last year, the school said.
“With a recent decline in state appropriated funds to the University, and with possible budget cuts looming, this gift provides much needed support for our students and a wonderful start to 2010,” said university President George E. Cooper.
