Here's what is brewing in the news this morning:

Debate over release of bin Laden photos

Now that Osama bin Laden is dead, should the U.S. government prove it to the world by releasing photos of the infamous terrorist after he was shot in the head? That is the debate today in Washington, D.C.

The Obama administration is weighing whether to release photos of bin Laden's corpse and video of his swift burial at sea. While officials are reluctant to inflame Islamic sentiment by showing graphic images of the body, they are also eager to address the mythology already building in Pakistan and beyond that bin Laden is somehow still alive.

U.S. officials say the photographic evidence shows bin Laden was shot above his left eye, blowing away part of his skull. U.S. forces identified bin Laden’s through photo comparisons, DNA, and other means.

This week gruesome photos claiming to be of bin Laden began circulating the internet, but White House Officials have confirmed the photos are fake.

Sound off. Do you think the photographs should be released? Do you doubt that bin Laden is deceased? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.

The birthers won’t stop

If there was any question about whether the release of President Obama’s full-length birth certificate would appease those who challenge his citizenship, the answer is no.

The Associated Press is reporting that a group of “birthers” recently presented their case in an appeals court in California. They claim that the birth certificate released by the president has been doctored.

Attorneys Orly Taitz and Gary Kreep, on behalf of more than 40 plaintiffs, are seeking to revive a lawsuit challenging Obama's citizenship that was dismissed by U.S. District Judge David Carter in late 2009.

Both Taitz and Kreep have been unable to convince courts around the nation that their lawsuits have merit. Taitz was ordered by a federal judge in Georgia two years ago to pay a $20,000 fine, calling her lawsuit against the president frivolous and the litigation an attempt to misuse the court system to push a political agenda.
