A Rock Hill man was arrested Wednesday after an allegation that he slapped his 12-year-old son during an argument.

According to a story first published in the Rock Hill Herald, Marco Vega, 41, is accused of hitting his son on the side of the face with an open hand during an argument in October. Police who went to the home to investigate reported that the boy had redness on his face.

Vega faces charges related to child abuse.

QUESTION: Were police justified in arresting this father? When does physical discipline become abuse?
