Stabbing leaves man dead in east Charlotte
Police this morning are investigating an apparent stabbing in east Charlotte that left one man dead.
The victim’s name was not released pending notification of family members.
The incident happened near the 3900 block of Monroe Road in the Providence Division. The call for service came in at 12:58 a.m.
When officers reached the scene, they found a man lying in the road suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main where he was pronounced dead.
Based on initial witness statements, two men were seen fighting a short distance from where the victim was found.
Police encountered two subjects in the vicinity of the incident and took them both to headquarters for questioning. Both were said to be cooperating.
As of Wednesday morning, police had not determined what role, if any, either of the men might have played in the incident.
