Subway employee shoots two robbery suspects; kills one
An employee at a Subway story shot two robbery suspects Monday in north Charlotte, killing one and wounding the other.
Neither the suspects nor the shooter was immediately identified.
The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. at a shopping strip in the 600 block of West Sugar Creek Road.
Officers were called the scene by someone reporting the sound of gunfire. When they arrived they found a black male lying at the end of the strip mall, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police that two black males entered the store armed with handguns. An altercation began when the employee refused the suspects’ demands. The employee then shot both suspects, who fled from the store.
Police said the second suspect showed up at Carolinas Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound. His condition was not reported. Police said two other people were being held for questioning.
The employee was uninjured.
In September, a Pizza Hut employee shot and killed two robbery suspects at a restaurant on Independence Boulevard.
