Police are investigating a Sunday shooting that left one man dead near an east Charlotte apartment complex.

The incident happened around 7:26 p.m. in the 1400 block of Wembly Drive, near Central Avenue and Briar Creek Road. Police did not immediately release the victim’s name pending family notification.

Based on information gathered from witnesses, police said the victim was in a parking lot of the apartment complex when the suspect walked up and shot him. The shooter was described as a black male.

Police released on information on a potential motive.
