A SWAT team was called to the 7800 block of Waterford Ridge Drive in east Charlotte where a man with a gun inside an apartment was threatening to kill himself.

Officers evacuated units surrounding subject’s apartment to secure a perimeter. While SWAT was being deployed, the subject walked out of his unit and was taken into custody without further incident.

CMPD said the man would be involuntarily committed for assessment.
