The latest CMS plan: Keep Harding High open
In yet another option for proposed school changes, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board has submitted an additional motion that would leave Harding University High open and close Waddell High.
The new option, posted early this morning on CMS website, calls for Harding to be turned from a countywide magnet into a neighborhood school. Its Math/Science Magnet Program would be moved to Phillip O. Berry High. However, Harding would retain an International Baccalaureate magnet.
Waddell would see its students moved to Harding or South Mecklenburg High, and the building would become home to the current Smith Academy of International Languages. The site would be renamed the E.E. Waddell Academy of International Languages.
