The Nielsen Co. on Tuesday awarded $2,500 college scholarships to three Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seniors.
The students are:
Jameelia Cook of West Mecklenburg High, who wants a job at Microsoft or Toshiba; Samone Weathers of E.E. Waddell, who wants to be a journalist; and Janel Harrison of West Charlotte High, who loves computer technology and hopes to attend the UNC Charlotte.
In addition to the scholarship, each student also received a Netbook computer.
Nielsen, based in New York, tracks the nation’s television viewing habits through a network of monitoring boxes in selected homes. The company in recent months has been working to increase minority participation in its monitoring system.
