Troy Davis will be put to death
The state of Georgia will proceed with the execution of Troy Davis, now that th
e state Board of Pardons and Paroles on Monday has denied his bid for clemency.
Davis was convicted twenty years ago in the murder of a Savannah police officer. His case received international attention as some 663,000 people, including leaders like Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former President Carter, signed petitions urging the board to commute his death sentence.

Davis is scheduled to die by lethal injection at a state prison in Jackson, Georgia Wednesday at 7 p.m. (Read more)
