School explains controversial suspension
A 9-year-old boy who was suspended from a school in Gaston County made national headlines after his mother told WSOC-TV that her child was suspended for sexual harassment after calling his teacher “cute.” In a certified letter sent to his mother, school officials explain that Chiquita Lockett’s son Emanyea told the teacher she was fine in a suggestive tone and accused him of using bad words with other students. He said he only told a friend the teacher was cute. School officials said all of the comments are inappropriate and violate the student code of conduct. (Watch video)

A Detroit woman traded her four-bedroom, 3 bath home for a 2006 used minivan. LaWanda
Flake, 36, is a disabled mother of six. She traded in her home, which has been valued at $96,000, for the van, which had 85,000 miles and has been valued at between $5000 and $8000, so that she could get her children to school on time. The swap occurred over Craigslist. (Read more)
